I am Christian with an open mind respecting all faith journeys and people's values. I see counselling as both a profession and a ministry of love and compassion. I love people and relationships. I believe that love alleviates suffering, compassion is the medicine for rejection, and the worst type of suffering is that which is accompanied by social isolation.
I count it a privilege to journey alongside you, at a challenging time in your life, to help you resolve difficulties you are struggling with.
In the counselling session, I endeavor to provide you with a peaceful and welcoming "holding environment" where you feel safe to explore areas within yourself that are causing distress. You will be listened to non-judgmentally and with unconditional positive regard.
The safe space of trust and acceptance will allow you to put your thoughts and feelings into words and in doing so, you will gain some understanding and control over them. You will also be encouraged to re-author your life by making changes, oriented towards greater personal strength and wholeness. Indeed I aspire to offer you a space that you would experience as an Oasis of Peace.
Counselling/Therapy Services
I work from my own private practice "Oasis of Peace Counselling" in the North Shore. I am competent in both English and Arabic and can thus provide counselling in the language of your choice. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. Issues I deal with are: domestic violence, grief and loss, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, stress, esteem, family difficulties, trauma (including sexual trauma), anger management and suicidal thinking.
I also work at C.A.R.E Waitakere Trust in Te Atatu Peninsula.
